Young Leaders

The Young Leaders' Scheme is just one of the exciting programme elements in the Explorer Scout section.

All leaders in the Beaver Scout, Cub Scout and Scout Section who are between the ages of 14 and 18 must be members of an Explorer Scout Young Leaders' Unit. They are Explorer Scouts who choose to devote a large proportion of their time in Scouting to service in another section.

03/02/2020 By Mark Hassall

Scouting is full of wonderful volunteers - both young people and adults - in fact we wouldn't exist without them!

So if you think you know a volunteer who needs an extra pat on the back, why not nominate them for a Central Bedfordshire Council "Cheering Volunteering Award".

Nominations are open until 12pm on 20th April.

New Explorer Commissioner
12/10/2019 By Mark Hassall

I’m pleased to announce that Anita Lawford has been appointed to the role of District Explorer Scout Commissioner (DESC) for Ampthill & Woburn Scouts.

Anita has previous been an Explorer Leader with Aurora ESU based in Aspley Guise and brings a wealth of experience working with the Explorer Section.  She is taking on the DESC role in addition to her existing role of District Scout Network Commissioner, bringing together responsibility for the District’s 14 – 25 year old provisions.

Anita can be contacted via the "Meet the Team" page of our wesite.

I’d like to thanks Clover Heather for her excellent work as our outgoing DESC and wish her all the best for the future.  Clover is continuing to provide some support to Explorers for the immediate future as she progresses her plans to move to pastures new.
